You’ve made it to the right place.
Much of my professional experience has been dedicated to working with teenagers and their families. I understand that some teens are eager to start therapy, while others may feel unsure and that’s completely normal.
Adolescence is full of new and sometimes overwhelming experiences, and it can make a big difference for teens to have a trusted, nonjudgmental adult to talk to. My goal when working with teens is to create a space where they feel heard, supported, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.
When beginning therapy with a teen, I like to invite parents or guardians into the first session. This gives everyone a chance to connect, ask questions, and understand how the process works. I place a strong emphasis on confidentiality and trust, and I clearly explain those boundaries from the start, also while also encouraging healthy, open communication within the family, because strong communication is one of the most powerful tools for navigating and thriving during adolescence.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
